A healthy diet

Hi kids!

Let's revise today the food groups:

And REMEMBER!

Our diet is what we can eat. A diet can be healthy or unhealthy.

To be healthy we need to eat a variety of food. We need to eat more of some things and less of others.

The nutrients in food

Today's lesson is about NUTRITION. Have you ever wondered why we eat and drink?.

We eat and drink because our body needs the nutrients that food contain to live and grow. Different food contains different nutrients.

There are five types of nutrients: CARBOHYDRATES, FATS, PROTEINS, VITAMINS AND MINERALS

                            👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇

CARBOHYDRATES

FATS

PROTEINS

VITAMINS AND MINERALS

NOW, TAKE NOTES IN YOUR NOTEBOOK:

✅ Carbohydrates give us energy to run, study or ride a bike.

Fats build a store of extra energy for when we need. Don't eat too many or you will become unhealthy and overweight !!!

Proteins help us grow.

Vitamins and minerals help us to stay healthy.

Water is very important! More than half our body is water!

Our digestive and excretory system

 Hello girls and boys! 🙌

Today we are going to learn about the digestive system and the digestion, as well as our excretory system.

Our digestive system helps us to get the nutrients we need from food.

The main parts of it are: the mouth, the esophagus, the stomach, the small intestine and the large intestine. 👇

Our excretory system helps our bodies to get rid of excess water and waste products.

The main organs are: the kidneys, the ureters, the bladder and the urethra. 👇

Draw like Picasso!

Pablo Picasso was a Spanish painter. He used shapes and loved experimenting with colours.

Draw your self portrait following Picasso's technique:

Our bodies and emotions

We feel emotions and feelings. It's important to talk about them and to understand other people have these emotions too.

Can you remenber all of them?Let's play an easy guessing game with this video👇:

How do we change as we get older?. We all change and grow older. We are children, then adolescents, then adults and then elderly.

When we are children we grow the most. We learn to walk and talk and we get our first teeth. We also depend on our parents.

When we are adolescents our bodies change a lot: we get taller, stronger, heavier and grow more hair on our bodies. Girls grow more curves and boys grow bigger muscles and their voices become deeper.

When we are adults we stop growing and our bodies are ready to have children. Also, we understand better other people's emotions and how to respond.

Finally, when we are elderly we have more wrinkles on our faces and bodies. Our hair is often grey. Also, we have more health problems.

Our respiratory system

Hello everyone!😀

Have you ever wondered what happens after we breathe?. How does the air travel inside our body?

Oxygen enters our blood through the respiratory system when we breathe in. Then, the carbon dioxide we don't need leaves our body when we breathe out.

Dr. Binocs is here to explain it all in today's topic, Respiratory System.

Our circulatory system

 Hello scientists! ✋✋

Today we're going to learn some things about the CIRCULATORY SYSTEM. First, watch this video:

Our circulatory system is a part of the process of nutrition

Our circulatory system is like a transport system🚌🚍🚒🚔🚕🚘.

It carries nutrients from the food we eat and oxygen from the air we breathe aoround the body. It's made up of the heart, blood and blood vessels

From a dot to a masterpiece!

 Enjoy this story! 😍📖

Now, listen to this song !

Now, it's your turn!
Use crayons, felt-tip pens, water colours etc. Each dot is going to be a drop in the ocean of this mural!.

📢📢📢Students will be assigned a color scheme in order to create a circle.

The Musculoskeletal (or Locomotor) System

Our LOCOMOTOR SYSTEM is made of BONES, MUSCLES and JOINTS

BONES are hard and rigid.

MUSCLES are soft and elastic.

JOINTS make the skeleton flexible. Joints  help us move. There are joints in our arms and legs.

These are our main BONES

These are our main MUSCLES

Our musculoskeletal (or locomotor) system makes our body move. It's made up of bones, joints and muscles. It uses nutrients from food and oxygen to work. We use our locomotor system to move, eat and speak.

 Let's learn more about it!💪💪💪

Our senses and nervous system

✋We have five senses (sight, smell, hearing, taste and touch)  and each sense has an organ. The organ of sight are the eyes. The organ of hearing are the ears. The organ of smell is the nose. The organ of taste is the tongue. The organ of touch is the skin

We use our senses to recognise what is happening around us.

The nervous system is made up of the brain, the spinal cord and the nerves.👇

Our senses work together with our nervous system and our locomotor system in the life preocess of interaction.

Here's a video to understand the nervous system 👇:

The Elements of Art . . . Defined!

'My Five Senses' (Read Aloud Book)

When we touch and object it can be smooth or rough. Some things make noise or have a smell.

Our senses give our brain information about the environment.

"My Five Senses" ✋ by Aliki is a book about our five senses; see, hear, smell, taste and touch. Enjoy!.
