Mixtures and How to Separate Them

A pure substance consists of only one component. For example:

👆WATER

👆WOOD

A mixture happens when we put two or more substances together. For example:

👆YOU CAN MIX A YOGURT WITH SUGAR,
SOME FRUITS AND CEREALS

📌There are two types of mixtures: heterogeneous mixtures and homogeneous mixtures. 👇

Watch this video to learn more 👀 :

We can SEPARATE mixtures by three techniques: EVAPORATION, FILTRATION AND USING A MAGNET.                                     👇

Forces in Matter

Forces can act from a distance o through contact. When they act from a distance they are called non-contact forces. When they come into contact with the object they are called contact forces.

NON-CONTACT FORCES

Magnetism is a force that can attract or repel mangetic objetcs. Let's watch the following video.

Gravity is a non-contact force that pulls objects towards  each other.

CONTACT FORCES

📌 There are two different contact forces: Applied force and Buoyant force.

📌When an object is put in a liquid there is an upward force acting on it called buoyancy. This is what makes objects float.

Watch the following videos about this force 👀 :

Changes in Matter

Matter can change in many ways. These changes are classified into two types: Physical changes and Chemical changes.

PHYSICAL CHANGES

In a physical change no new substance is formed and properties of the substance stay the same.

CHEMICAL CHANGES

In a chemical change a new substance or substances form.

Andy Warhol and Pop Art

 Hi artists!

This is Andy Warhol!👇

He is on of the most famous artists, ever. He is an art legend. He was part of the pop art movement and he is famous for exploring POPULAR CULTURE in his work. Popular culture is anything form Coca Cola to pop stars to the clothes people like to wear.

Watch this video to find out what is POP ART.

Physical properties of matter

Matter is everything that exists. Al living things and non-living things are made of matter.

But, let's learn more things about MATTER watching the following videos:

Matter can be different sizes (large, small, ....), different shapes (round, square...) and different colours (red, grey, green...) .
Matter can be different in other ways too. 👇

Plant Nutrition (PHOTOSYNTHESIS)

Plants make food  through a process called photosynthesis. This is essential for all living things.

Let's watch a video about this process 👇:

PHOTOSYNTHESIS:

MINERALS+WATER+SUNLIGHT+
CARBON DIOXIDE
FOOD + OXYGEN

Plant Reproduction

All plant do the life process of reproduction. Flowering plants reproduce by making seeds inside the  flowers

Some plants have flowers. Their reproductive organs are inside the flower. All flowers have the same parts. 🌼👇

So, insects play an important part in POLLINATION.

Types of Plants (Classified by their stem and by their leaves)

Plants can be classified by their stem into three types: trees, bushes and grasses. 👇

👆A pine tree is a tree: It has a big woody stem
called trunk. Trees grow slowly.
They are the tallest plants and live the longest.

👆Lavender is a bush It has a woody stem
but not a trunk.
The branches on a bush grow near the ground.
Bushes are shorter than trees.

👆 Wheat is a grass: It has a flexible, green stem.
 It is short.
Grasses grow quickly.

Also, plants can be classified by their leaves into two groups: evergreen and deciduous. 👇

How to prepare your ORAL PRESENTATION (Endangered species)

Hi kids!. If you finished your REPORT WORKSHEET about your endangered animal, you can start with the oral presentations. Here you have a guide to know what to say!. 👇

Animal Reproduction

How are animals born?.

Not all animals reproduce in the same way. They can be viviparous and oviparous. Mammals are born directly from their mother. They are viviparous.

All invertebrates are born from eggs.

Remember! Fish, amphibians, reptiles and birds are OVIPAROUS. Birds lay eggs with a hard shell. Other animals, such as fish, lay soft eggs

Frogs lay soft eggs 👀👇:
